Voice over IP (VoIP)A technology for transmitting ordinary
telephone calls over the internet using packet linked routes. Also known as
IP Telephony.
Voice over IP is a revolutionary technology that has the potential to
completely rework the worlds phone system. Over the past ten years,
phone providers have been rebuilding their networks, upgrading to digital
connections based on common internet protocols.
VoIP allows you to make telephone calls using a digital computer
network, over a data network such as the internet. VoIP converts the
voice signal from your telephone into a digital signal that can travel over
the internet, and then be converted back at the other end. VoIP can
also allow you to make a call directly from a VoIP phone to a conventional
landline or mobile telephone number.
Here at WG&R we have in-house personnel with in-depth knowledge of VoIP
and the available systems. Please feel free to
contact us if your organisation is looking to implement VoIP in the
future.
